Rainfall increased heavily in August, and because rain is acidic, when in contact with metals, the rain has a greater effect on the rate at which the metals dissolve.The levels of acidity could cause a more evident and well different chemical reaction when in contact with these metals. The pesticides also could have been a large yet overlooked contribution towards the wearing away of the metals.
